Need Before Greed

There Are 2 Vacant Investor-Owned Homes for Every Homeless Person in America

~GRITPOST

It is understandable, after reading such articles, that People support expropriation without compensation and this big 2018 hype called “radical economic transformation”

The Capitalists who made these “investments” can make a little money out of it; I doubt any reasonable man / woman would object against this

But they shouldn’t cut the neck of the Goose that is laying the Golden Eggs (us, the Workers)

When the Willing Buyer / Willing Seller at Cost +20% doesn’t work; then I can support a Government who would take it for the betterment of the Nation as a whole

There are many places like this too in South Africa, and there are many fellow South Africans (of course a smaller percentage against teh whole) who own these type of “investments” along with a fleet of cars

What distresses me even more than that is the lack of foresight by our Government and tertiary institutions such as Unisa

Whole blocks of flats standing empty at Unisa, while around the corner at University of Pretoria students have to sleep in toilets and under bridges?

Where is the Humanity in such opulence while others suffer?

Should we not prioritize sorting out this human condition of “Greed before Need” first before we start sorting out any thing else?

God or Mammon ; I’ve picked my side

Religion … why would pick a fight about it?

I am surprised to see the whole Online debate regarding religion and faith here on News24 between die-hard fanatics on both sides of the religious divide.

Everyday each and every one of us experience countless challenges and obstacles!

We see our fellow countrymen suffer in the cold, we give them a cold look or a rude gesture and just wish they would disappear and not ask us anything.

We hear and see the neighbor behind us, violently shouting at his wife after a night out  and threating her with physical violence, yet we keep quiet.

We see the injustice that is brought upon the children of South Africa and the world because of a pathetic educational systems, full of people who are there only because it is a job and not a passion, yet we do nothing.

We contend with reckless drivers on the roads just to get from point A to B.

We ourselves face the possibility of falling victim to some heinous act of crime,  so why ….

“Why?”

Why would anyone even care if there is a God, god, gods, Gods … with our immediate environment being the way it is.

What is the point spending time fighting a pointless fight which is actually more of a personal choice than anything else?

Could this time spent on fighting each other not be used more productively?

Could this time not be used to pool our collective resources and come up with solutions to our common problems like inequity, violent crime, corruption; to halt the rate of the social decay around us and to turn it around so that we can work towards our survival as a species?

Why would the non believers care if someone believe in a spiritual deity?

Why would the believers care that the non believers just don’t have any faith?

How does this have a direct influence on our lives?

We are in the here and now, we have to fix it now to have a future.

Personally, I believe in God, but I don’t care if you care of not, because it gives me purpose in life to better my immediate environment for everyone around me.

Get your acts together and start being productive, not only the people here in South Africa, but anyone who might stumble onto this blog by sheer coincidence.
